Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tweeted on Thursday that Dr. Anthony Fauci and President Joe Biden are not in sync with “Real America” because of their continued concern about COVID-19 and the rise of the Omicron variant.

“Real America is done with #COVID19,” Jordan tweeted. “The only people who don’t understand that are Fauci and Biden.”

On Wednesday, Fauci told reporters, "the fact is that people should wind up getting vaccinated and boosted if they’re eligible for a boost. I keep coming back to that because that’s really the solution to this problem."

Jordan has previously made outlandish claims about the pandemic. He is a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump.

In a heated exchange between Jordan and Fauci during a subcommittee hearing in April, Jordan asked, “where does it end? When it comes down, what number do we get our liberties back?”

Amid the second case of the Omicron variant being identified in the U.S., officials renewed calls to get vaccinated and boosted if able.

As of Tuesday, the U.S. recorded 119,609 recent cases of COVID-19 with a 7-day moving average of 82,846 cases per day. The U.S. has recorded over 777,000 deaths and 48.1 million cases from 2020 to 2021. Around 75% of people 5 and over are vaccinated in the U.S., but it is unclear how effective the vaccine or other COVID-19 treatments are against the new Omicron variant.
