The release date of the remaining episodes of “Rick and Morty” Season 4 has been announced.

The producers of “Rick and Morty” dropped what every fans wanted to know – the release of episode 6 and the remaining episodes of the current season. The Adult Swim animated series took a hiatus mid-December, but it promised to return in 2020.

“You heard it here third. #RickandMorty returns May 3 on @adultswim,” a post from “Rick and Morty” on Twitter read.

It was accompanied by a snap of the popular series announcing that the other five episodes of Season 4 would be airing in Adult Swim on May 3. Fans were pleased with the announcement, but some were doubtful due to the timing since it was posted a day before April Fool's Day, so they were hoping that it was not an April fool’s joke as they were already eager to watch new episodes of “Rick and Morty.”

“This better not be a DAMN april fools joke,” @afteroses commented.

“Wait, make sure to double-check tmrw though just in case of April Fools,” @BrookieRex added.

Meanwhile, many were convinced that the announcement was not a prank. According to several online users who have been following the series, the announcement was legit.

“It’s not, it’s legit,” @SpencerAgabiti wrote.

“You dont ‘joke’ about new Rick and Morty episodes...@adultswim knows this. So its definitely real,” @CoinOperatedBro opined.

There were rumors that “Rick and Morty” Season 4’s return would be further delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Initially, fans were expecting it in March and April. The pandemic has forced most production in the United States to halt their filming and editing. However, the production behind the animated series could still work remotely.

One of the possible reasons for the delay of “Rick and Morty” was the frequent changes in the storylines. According to Spencer Grammer, who voices Summer Smith, the storylines change a lot. There was an episode which they recorded a lot of times to improve the story.
