Hundreds of participants dressed in bridal outfits gathered and drank champagne during the annual Brides of March event in San Francisco Sunday.

Revelers, men and women, wearing the traditional white wedding gown or dress similar to it, gathered to celebrate the occasion.

The Brides of March started as an annual Cacophony Society event and was intended as a pun on the term Ides of March and a parody of weddings in western culture.

First initiated in 1999, the event is reportedly a part pub crawl and part street theater.

Recently, many have even attempted the gothic bride look wearing ensembles in black shades. Apart from this, many have even opted for bizarre themes like alien brides.

The event has also garnered attention in other places like Austin, Reno, Portland, Los Angeles, Seattle, London, and Japan.
