Fox’s “Scream Queens” kicked off with a death - shocker! The show’s bloody two-hour premiere began with a flashback scene from 1995 when a Kappa Kappa Tau pledge had a surprise baby in the house during a party. When her sisters refuse to get her help in favor of singing along to TLC’s “Waterfalls,” she dies. Will the former pledge come back to haunt the students of 2015?

The show returns with the introduction to Chanel (Emma Roberts), the queen of Kappa House, and her minions, each named Chanel No. 2, 3 and 4 (No. 4 died from Meningitis). Chanel appears to be on the top of her game, making fun of house maid, Ms. Bean (Jan Hoag), until she receives word she has to meet with the Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis). After the dean informs Chanel that she thinks she was responsible for killing the house’s former president, she reveals she will be revoking their charter and the house will most likely not survive the year.

During rush, Kappa’s president and lawyer in the charter debacle, Gigi (Nasim Pedrad), reveals that the the house will be changing it tune this year, allowing anyone to pledge. Grace (Skyler Samuels), who wants to join Kappa to feel closer to her late mother, convinces her roommate Zayday (Keke Palmer) to pledge, telling her it will help her become POTUS one day. Other pledges include Hester “Neck Brace” (Lea Michele), Tiffany “Deaf Taylor Swift” (Whitney Meyer), Mac “Predatory Lez" and Jennifer (Breezy Eslin), a candle vlogger.

“What fresh hell is this?” Chanel asks her minions.

In an effort to scare off unwanted pledges, Chanel devises a plan to pretend to burn Mr. Bean’s face with a deep fryer. When the maid objects, Chanel tell her its only a prank and the oil won’t be hot. After Chanel’s minions discover a shrine dedicated to taking down the house president in Ms. Bean’s room, Chanel goes into a rage. During a kitchen showdown she follows through with her plan, only to discover the oil actually was heated, killing the maid.

Chanel tells the pledges they need to help her dispose of her body. When Grace objects, she tells her she will pin the murder on her. They place Ms. Bean in the house freezer. When Grace meets with student journalist Pete (Diego Boneta) to give him insight into Kappa House for an expose, he says he’s already aware they did some illegal. Grace says she wants the house to go back to the way it was when her mom was a pledge. When they go to the freezer, they find Ms. Bean’s body is gone. Chanel takes her self-involved love interest Chad (Glen Powell) into the freezer and they make the same discovery.

Chanel thinks someone is messing with them and makes her band of Chanels do a blood oath in an effort to keep them quiet regarding the murder of Ms. Bean. The girls object to doing the ceremony and Chanel No. 2 (Adriana Grande) says she’s going home. While packing her things she gets a text from “Unknown.” When a red-masked individual comes into her room they dance and send each other flirtatious text messages. Their flirtations end when he writes that he’s going to kill her. Chanel No. 2 fights back but is eventually stabbed to death by the masked murder. Before she breaths her last breath, she manages to send out a tweet asking for help.

When they find Chanel No. 2 dead, Chanel immediately blames her death on Ms. Bean, who she believes may have escaped the freezer or came back from the dead. Chanel refuses to allow Chanel No. 5 (Abigail Breslin) and Chanel No. 3 (Billie Lord) to call the police and they agree to start rush week. They later put Chanel No 2. in the same freezer that once housed Ms. Bean.

Back at the house Chanel No. 5 and 3 bury the pledges in the yard, leaving just their heads exposed. The red-masked devil shows up on a lawn mower and cuts the head clean off Tiffany while she’s singing “Shake It Off.” When Dean Munch learns of Tiffany’s death, she reveals the Kappa pledges are all suspects and are required to remain in the house during the beheading investigation.

Now living in the house, Grace uncovers a locked room in the Kappa basement. She tells Pete she's going break in and she shares a kiss with him while telling him her plan. When she sneaks in she discovers the bloody bathtub from the episode’s flashback sequence. When Chanel shows up she jokingly tells Grace she has to tell kill her, saying the room houses Kappa’s “darkest secrets.” Chanel tells Grace the story of the sister dying 20 years prior and claims Dean Munch helped cover it up. Grace questions if the girl's death has something to do with the murders happening now and Chanel disagrees, saying the house has more than enough present day enemies.

Pete continues his investigation into Kappa and breaks into the dean's office. After raiding her file cabinet and writing down the names of the girls involved in the 1995 accident, he's hit in the head by the masked killer. He isn't killed, but hung in front of the school wearing a note with the phrase "MYOB" (mind your own business) on his chest. When he meets up with Grace to tell her what happened, she finds the red devil suit in his closet, leading her to believe he might be the killer. She also reveals she thinks he may be the baby that was born in Kappa house, due to his age.

Back at the house the Chanels continue to haze their new pledges -- sans Chad's right-hand man and potential male pledge Boone (Nick Jonas), who told Chanel he wants to be the first gay Kappa. During the hazing, Chanel comes face to face with the masked killer in her bedroom. When the girls go into her room to investigate -- security guard Denise (Niecy Nash) refuses to help -- they find the message "Slut Will Die" written in blood on the wall.

At the end of the episode, Denise and Chad interrupt the girls' house dinner. Denise informs the students that her friend, Shondell (Deneen Tyler), was found with a knife in her throat. Chad tells the ladies Boone was also killed.

The episode ends with a shot of a morgue. The red devil pulls Boone's body out a locker, only to discover he's still alive. "What took you so long?” Boone asks.
