NBC has released three sneak peeks from next week’s Season 2 premiere of “Taken.”

In the first sneak peek, Christina Hart (Jennifer Beals) bumps into a Homeland deputy director who is surprised to see her as a corporate professional. “When did you change your government stripes for corporate stripes,” Hart’s former colleague asks her.

Hart says that she decided to give civilian life a shot after she got demoted from her position as special deputy director of National Intelligence. “The timing was right,” she explains.

While Christina seems comfortable talking about her transition from working for the government to being a private sector employee, she is taken aback when her former coworker asks her about her previous team. “But seriously Christina, what happened to you DNI team?” the man asks.

When Christina says that she was able to reassign most of them to different government agencies, her ex-colleague asks, “What about the one who is still missing in action, Bryan Mills (Clive Standen)?”

Upon hearing Bryan’s name, Christina freezes. Seeing that Christina is still hurting about what happened to Bryan, Christina’s ex-colleague says, “It’s never an easy decision to leave folks behind. Whatever happened to you and your team, I’m sorry.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 1, Bryan is put in a secret Mexican prison after defying Christina’s orders and exacting revenge on the man who killed his sister at the end of the Season 1 finale. Mills plans a series of dangerous deals behind bars to put him on track for escape to the United States. But his plans change when he and a young migrant girl (Adriana Santos) are taken by human traffickers.

In the second sneak peek, Bryan and many others are about to cross the Mexico-United States border when their truck is stopped by a group of armed men collecting border tax. One of the men notices the young girl in the truck and decides to take her with them. The girl’s father tries to stop the men but is easily knocked down. When one of the human traffickers points a gun to the girl’s father, Bryan saves the father’s life by offering himself as hostage.

While Christina is no longer with the government, she hasn’t forgotten about Bryan. According to the synopsis for the season-opener, Christina leverages her spycraft skills to obtain powerful new software that could locate Bryan. Stripped of her team at National Intelligence, Christina enlists two unlikely allies to aid in her mission to bring Mills home. One of her recruits is Santana (Jessica Camacho), a former Army quartermaster, who is featured in the third sneak peek.

“Taken” Season 2, episode 1, titled “S.E.R.E.,” airs on Friday, Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
