After Creative Assembly hinted that "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 beta could be released as quickly as this past Monday, it later backtracked, saying "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 needed additional overnight testing. Now it appears as if Creative Assembly has delayed "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 yet again, pushing its release back to "early next week.

A Creative Assembly employee has issued an official comment on the status of "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2. Here's what they had to say.

What's unclear is whether "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 will be released early next week, or early next week. That would mean that the final release of "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 would come sometime after that. On the other hand, if "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 were to be released early next week, presumably "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 beta would arrive sometime before that, possibly this weekend. We reached out to Creative Assembly for clarification and we'll update this story accordingly if and when we get a response.

Earlier this week, Creative Assembly said "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 was also delayed because they wanted to add more fixes to it, making it a larger overall patch. Creative Assembly also cited a need for additional testing for "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 as a cause for delay. Considering the problems that "Total War: Rome 2" has experienced since its release on Sept. 3, "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 2 promises to be massive in size and scope.

To this point, "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 1 beta was released last week, but didn't fix every issue. In some instances, it created a new problem: the red sky effect, which has since been remedied. "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 1.5 beta was released this week, but it only offered a fix for low framerates when using the Campaign Map. However, Creative Assembly said this fix only applied to people whose PCs were equipped with mid-range CPUs combined with high-end graphics cards. Naturally, complaints flooded in, with "Total War: Rome 2" Patch 1.5 beta failing to fix the problem for some, while making the game even less playable for others.
