It appears President Trump is pretty confident about winning the votes of Cubans in Florida after bragging about being the recipient of the Bay of Pigs award.

On Sunday, Bay of Pigs began trending on Twitter after Trump tweeted about the recognition he received for helping the Cuban population. However, it appears the award in question doesn’t exist.

“Sleepy Joe Biden has spent 47 years in politics being terrible to Hispanics. Now he is relying on Castro lover Bernie Sanders to help him out. That won’t work! Remember, Miami Cubans gave me the highly honored Bay of Pigs Award for all I have done for our great Cuban Population!” Trump tweeted.

Spectators quickly flocked to Twitter to mock Trump for boasting about an award that didn’t exist.

“OMG, there is no such thing as ‘The highly honored Bay of Pigs’ award!! I think you’re confusing this with the King of Pigs Award, which you truly are deserving of. #TrumpLies,” one person tweeted.

Another person added, “Gonna be honest, I can’t believe there’s a bay of pigs award, and I can’t believe that being awarded it is a good thing.”

While the Bay of Pigs award doesn’t exist, Charles Johnson, the founder of Little Green Footballs, insisted that Trump deserves one.

“‘The Bay of Pigs Award’ LOL! Just one small thing about this ‘award’ - it doesn’t exist,” he wrote. “But if it did, it would be appropriate to give it to Trump, because the Bay of Pigs invasion was a monumental failure and foreign policy disaster.”

The Bay of Pigs was a 1961 failed landing invasion by Cuban exiles who were against Fidel Castro’s Cuban Revolution. While an award does not exist, the Miami Herald reported the Bay of Pigs Veterans Association endorsed Trump during his 2016 presidential run.
