An upcoming book revealed that Donald Trump in 2018 allegedly praised Adolf Hitler in a discussion with his chief of staff John Kelly.

Excerpts from Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender's book, "Frankly, We Did Win This Election," were released Wednesday to some news outlets, with the Hitler comment drawing fierce criticism and a denial from Trump.

“Well, Hitler did a lot of good things," Trump reportedly said on a trip to Paris to commemorate the armistice after World War I.

“You cannot ever say anything supportive of Adolf Hitler. You just can’t,” Kelly responded.

Bender's book noted that the comments were made during an “impromptu history lesson,” with Kelly reminding Trump which countries were on which side of the conflict and how Hitler’s actions led to World War II.

The alleged comment comes after many other similar reports. Trump’s first wife, Ivana, told Vanity Fair in 1990 that he kept a book of Hitler’s speeches by his bed. After the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, Trump defended comments that the alt-right demonstrators, who included neo-Nazis, were "very fine people."

He also skipped out on a scheduled visit to a cemetery that holds bodies of U.S. soldiers, who died during WWI. "Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers," Trump allegedly said.

Trump's spokesperson Liz Harrington on Wednesday denied the claims in Bender's book.

“This is totally false,” she said in a statement.

“President Trump never said this. It is made up fake news, probably by a general who was incompetent and was fired.”

Many took to social media after the revelations.
