Professional golfer Tyler Duncan accidentally hit his wife in the head with his approach shot on the no. 13 hole during the second round of the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament Friday.

It was caught on camera at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas. After Duncan hit his ball, it hooked left into the gallery area where his wife was standing and landed on the latter’s head. His wife, Maria Duncan, dressed in black and wearing a white cap, could be seen walking a few paces away from the crowd, massaging her head, where the ball had hit her.

The golfer later recorded the footage on his phone and posted it on Twitter with a witty caption:

"I had a little bit mud on the ball on the left side," Duncan later said in an interview with CBS Sports, when he was shown a replay of the shot. "I didn't really think it would affect [it] too much."

He also confirmed to PGA Tour that his wife was not seriously injured in the incident. “Took a big bounce and hit her, I guess,” Duncan said. “I didn't know until after the round… I'm just happy she's not hurt, and I was with her a while ago.”

Duncan also revealed that Friday wasn’t the first time his wife was hit by a golf ball. “Not long after we started dating, she actually got hit in the head by another ball, a random ball from the driving range. She's dodged two hits to the head. I'm sure most people can't say that,” he said.

Two weeks after Duncan played his first event as a PGA Tour member, the couple got married in her hometown of Jasper, Indiana, in October 2017.

According to ESPN, Tyler finished the weekend tournament tying for fifth place with a final score of -17 under par. He is currently ranked 488th in the world.
