Prince Charles is a considerate and passionate employer, according to a former royal butler.

Grant Harrold, a former butler who served the royals, worked with the Prince of Wales from 2004 to 2011. In an interview with Us Weekly, he spoke about his experience while serving the heir apparent.

“It was unbelievable. I used to pinch myself for about a year, because I couldn’t believe it,” Harrold said.

He added that it was a privilege to work alongside the future king. Prince William and Prince Harry’s dad is not a horrible boss. In fact, he has nothing but praises for Princess Diana’s ex-husband.

“To actually have somebody like the Prince of Wales as your employer was just an extraordinary situation and, I’m not just saying this, he was a very kind, considerate and passionate employer,” Grant added.

He also complimented Prince Charles’ “great sense of humor” which was handy at times especially during his first days in the palace.

“I remember when I first started working for [Prince Charles], on one of my first days, I bumped into him and I was a bit worried [about] what to do. I dived into a cupboard because I didn’t know what the etiquette was!” he recalled.

Harrold said that there was a “quite humorous” interaction as he struggled to find his way out of the cupboard. He found a nearby staircase and saw the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and he immediately greeted them while nodding his head. He said that the royals just laughed at him.

“They found this hysterical and there was a lot of laughter about it,” Harrold said adding that the incident convinced him Prince Charles and Camilla were “down-to-earth and normal and fun” and it was like that the whole time he was with them.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Prince William were spotted having a sweet father and son moment in their joint engagement. According to a royal expert Ingrid Seward, Prince Harry’s exit brought the Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge closer.
