Believe it or not, two months have already passed since a new episode of “A Million Little Things” aired on ABC, but the hiatus is officially coming to an end and fans are once again going to find themselves in the heart of the action as Jon’s loved ones continue to cope with the major carnage that has ripped apart their lives.

Earlier in Season 2 of the drama series, the gang was working to move past all of the problems that threatened them in the show’s first season, only to learn they hadn’t even begun to see the end of their problems. As Eddie (David Giuntoli) and Katherine (Grace Park) worked to save their marriage, they also became insistent that the truth about Eddie and Delilah’s (Stephanie Szostak) affair needed to come out—as did the truth that Charlie was not Jon’s (Ron Livingston) daughter. Meanwhile, Gary (James Roday) and Maggie (Allison Miller) realized their relationship needed to overcome more than cancer after Eric (Jason Ritter) entered their lives, and the two have since split up. As for Rome (Romany Malco) and Regina (Christina Moses), they managed to resolve their conflict on kids after dealing with the loss of his mother and the drama with PJ (Chandler Riggs).

So where will this leave the characters (and what will it mean) as the show returns to finish up Season 2? Here’s everything we know so far.

There Is A Time Jump

Following the big reveals at the end of Season 2A, the action is jumping ahead three months, and fans will see how much has really happened during that time. According to TV Line, not only will this allow fans to see the aftermath of the affair reveal, but it will also let them see just what Maggie has been up to in the time she has been apart from Gary.

“Maggie does some deep digging and some soul-searching, and maybe a bit of travel,” Miller said. “She does really get to a much better place than she was when we left in the fall finale.”

Sophie Is Still Struggling

Sophie (Lizzy Green) took the truth very hard when she learned it and was last seen smashing all of Eddie’s guitars. Green herself revealed to IBT back in November 2019 that it would also lead to viewers seeing a different side of Sophie that they never had before as well.

“...We’re going to see a different side of Sophie,” she said at the time. “We’re going to see her rebel and just kind of lose her place in the family and even just in life because everything she thought she knew was a lie... after all that she’s gone through, she’s going to struggle.”

Jon’s Return

One big thing fans will see in the second half of Season 2 is actually the one thing that was missing through the entire first half of the season—Jon. His storyline was seemingly summed up in its entirety back in the first season after why he took his own life was revealed, and Season two seemed to be focusing in on his loved ones and their struggles instead. However, things aren’t entirely over with him just yet, as creator DJ Nash revealed on Twitter earlier this month that Jon would be making an appearance in the back half of Season 2.

“A Million Little Things” returns with new episodes on Jan. 23 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
