Here’s why Prince Charles chose Camilla Parker Bowles over Princess Diana according to some netizens.

One netizen took to Quora and asked why the Prince of Wales opted to be with older divorcee Camilla over young and beautiful Princess Diana. Between the two women, the late Princess of Wales had the public and royal approval, but Prince Charles was not loyal to her. He admitted to having an affair with Camilla while they were still married.

Netizens have shared their thoughts about the matter. According to Basil Fondu, it could be due to their differences.

For him, the Prince and Princess of Wales had as much in common as chalk and cheese. The heir apparent was considerably older, well-educated, well-traveled and worldly. Meanwhile, Princess Diana was the complete opposite, she was young, under-educated, poorly-traveled and unworldly.

Prince Charles was interested in intellectual pursuits, polo, painting, gardening, fishing, hiking and more. On the other hand, Princess Diana was interested in pop culture and shopping. She didn’t like horses and outdoor activities unlike Camilla.

According to Jessica Jayne, author of “The Duchess of Cornwall: Camilla’s Story and Secrets,” the duchess wasn’t blessed with good looks. However, she was a “boy magnet” because even if she was not a beauty, her “earthy sexuality attracted the boys to her.”

Camilla is into riding, hunting and jumping. She can also relate to men on subjects that interest them like fishing, sports, and more.

Andrea Dornan believed that Prince Charles’ heart was always with Camilla. She added that there was something in Camilla that kept Prince Charles longing to be with her.

For Dornan, Camilla remained a lady by maintaining privacy. She added that she appreciates the future king for following his heart despite the public’s disapproval.

In another thread, many believed that Prince Charles has always loved Camilla and he was only forced to marry Princess Diana because she was the suitable bride for the future king. The netizens also agreed that “attraction is subjective.”

Meanwhile, some believed that one’s feelings goes beyond the person’s physical appearance and looks does not guarantee loyalty.

“Because being physically attractive is not an ironclad guarantee that a person will be loyal,” author Dante Wong explained on why Prince Charles preferred Camilla even if Princess Diana was lovelier.
