Wentworth Miller as Citizen Cold

While a lot of fans loved the romance between Russell Tovey’s The Ray and Wentworth Miller’s Citizen Cold in this week’s Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Earth-X,” it’s still unclear whether Miller will be reprising his Earth-X role in CW Seed’s upcoming animated series “Freedom Fighters: The Ray.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, there’s no official word yet on whether Miller will lend his voice to the animated series — at least not in the first six episodes. Producers of the show are reportedly still figuring out the continuity of the show’s timeline given “Supergirl” star Melissa Benoist is slated to voice Overgirl even though the character died at the end of the crossover.

While it’s unclear how “Freedom Fighters: The Ray” will connect to the events in the crossover, the official description for the character The Ray suggests the new series will start with the hero’s origin story. Read the description below:

“Raymond ‘Ray’ Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a ‘genetic light bomb.’ The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice — he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists.”

Although Miller announced his imminent departure “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow” early last month, the actor might still consider voicing Citizen Cold, aka Leo, on “Freedom Fighters: The Ray,” as working on animated series is less demanding than filming live-action shows.

“Currently shooting some of my final episodes as Captain Cold/Leonard Snart on the CW’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and ‘The Flash,’” Miller shared on Instagram last Nov. 5. “Grateful — now and in advance — to a pair of talented cast and hardworking crew… Thank you… I’ve had a tremendous time playing this character. It’s been an opportunity, an education, and a blast.”
