The woman who cut off her husband's penis was arrested in California and could serve life in prison for allegedly drugging her husband after throwing the severed genital in a garbage disposal, authorities say. The 51-year-old victim is recovering after successful emergency surgery.

The Los Angeles Times reported 48-year-old Catherine Kleu Becker had called the police Monday evening after serving dinner to her estranged husband laced with drugs before amputating his penis with a 10 inch kitchen knife.

Police found her estranged husband, whose name has not been released, tied to a bed in the couple's home and bleeding in his groin. Her husband was rushed to the UC Irvine Medical Center for emergency surgery and is now in recovery.

Court records show that the couple began divorce proceedings in May opened by the husband, though they were married for 11 ½ years. Becker reported to the police that he deserved it.

Garden Grove police department stated that there is no evidence of a strong motive.

Becker reported to the police that she had laced his meal with a sedative drug. After he had fallen asleep, she tied him to the bed with rope and cut off his penis, which she ground up in the garbage disposal. After surgery, her husband has been listed in good condition.

Becker could face life in prison if convicted. She was arrested on counts of aggravated mayhem, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, administering a drug with intent to commit a felony, poisoning and spousal abuse, according to the Los Angeles Times. She is being held on a $1 million bail in Orange Country prison.
