The year 2019 has been a massive one for Hollywood. Movies like “Avengers: Endgame,” “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” and “Captain Marvel” defined the first half of 2019 in an extraordinary way.

While the warmer months gave us some really exciting movies, the fall is expected to be as promising as the summer. According to Thrillist, five movies have made the fans excited for the upcoming movie season, and they are expected to rake in big numbers at the box office, as well.

Here’s the list of movies that people are eagerly waiting for this fall.

“Joker”

Directed by Todd Phillips, “Joker” has been creating a lot of buzz after its premiere in the recently concluded Venice Film Festival. According to the publication, the people are really excited for the movie, and they are keeping an open mind. The media outlet also noted that the movie will be a “twisted” tale of the diabolical clown and viewers might really love that.

Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix have been getting a lot of positive feedback on social media for their version of the clown prince. One of the fans wrote he cannot wait to watch the movie and shared that Phoenix will be great as the titular character. Meanwhile, another user shared his views by saying that he loves Heath Ledger’s version of Joker, but Phoenix has made him excited for the movie.

The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas on Oct. 4.

“Gemini Man”

Will Smith is back in action with “Gemini Man.” Directed by Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee, the movie tells the story of an elite assassin who becomes the target of a mysterious operative. But he soon learns that the man who’s trying to kill him is a younger version of himself.

The critics have been praising the movie for its action sequences and Smith’s performance. The fans are showering Smith and Lee with great comments and praised the trailer for its storyline and visual effects. A fan wrote on Twitter that the reactions coming in from the critics have made him more excited about the movie and he cannot wait to see the film on the big screen.

On the other hand, people praised Lee for his work and even called him a “genius.”

The film will release nationwide on Oct. 11.

“Jojo Rabbit”

The movie, set during World War II, is an upcoming venture from Taika Waititi who impressed everyone in “Thor: Ragnarok.” The film tells the story of a German boy named Jojo who discovers that his mother, played by Scarlett Johansson, is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. Aided by his imaginary friend – Adolf Hitler – Jojo must confront his ideology.

The film received positive reviews from the critics and went on to win the People’s Choice Award at the recently concluded Toronto International Film Festival. Earlier, the trailer of the movie was met with an overwhelming response. Taking it to Twitter, fans praised the director for his vision and called the trailer “fantastic.” On the other hand, a user wrote that his history teacher played the trailer in class and told them to see the movie.

The movie will arrive in theatres on Oct. 18.

“The Irishman”

With a giant cast and an official runtime of 210 minutes, “The Irishman” has been one of the most anticipated movies of 2019. The story revolves around a real-life gangster named Frank Sheeran, who reflects on his career of a hitman and the role he played in the disappearance of labor leader Jimmy Hoffa.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film will bring back the trio of Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino after a long time. The fans are beyond excited to see them in the movie, and they wrote on social media that it would be “priceless” to see them on the big screen again.

The film is getting a theatrical release on Nov. 1 and it will be streaming on Netflix on Nov. 27.

“Star Wars: Rise Of The Skywalker”

The most anticipated movie of 2019 and certainly a box office giant, the “Rise Of The Skywalker” is surely on everybody’s bucket list. The movie, which is set a year after the “Last Jedi,” will see the surviving Resistance facing the First Order once more as Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron’s (Oscar Isaac) journey continues.

The viewers are really excited to see their favorite characters back on the big screen. As soon as the trailer dropped, fans took to social media to praise the movie for its visual effects. Some people went on to say that the movie would literally “shake the universe.”

The film is scheduled to hit movie houses on Dec. 20.
