  • Two years after its announcement and undergoing various stages of testing, "Spellbreak" is finally set to arrive on several platforms next week
  • The setting of the game, in the magical Hollow Lands, is what makes "Spellbreak" from other battle royale titles in the market
  • “Spellbreak” will launch with full cross-platform support across all of its platforms from day one

For more than two years, “Spellbreak” has been undergoing various stages of testing but the fantasy battle royale is finally ready for its full release next week.

“Spellbreak” was announced back in 2018 and although it has been in development for quite some time, it has a fresh take on the common battle royale gameplay formula. ScreenRant notes that one of the things that make it different is the setting of the game.

In the magical world called the Hollow Lands, the battle royale’s last man standing concept is brought to life like in no other title. Here, players become battlemages who belong to several distinctive classes. Contestants in the “Spellbreak” deathmatch unlock new abilities and become more powerful as they develop their skills over time.

Soon enough, everyone is hurling fireballs at each other or throwing lightning bolts and icicles at their rivals.

Sept. 3 is the target release date for “Spellbreak” and it will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC as a free-to-play title. The announcement was made at Gamescom Opening Day through an extravagant CGI trailer with brief inclusions of gameplay sequences.

As far as gameplay goes, players can create unique characters by choosing from among six existing battlemage classes and specific magical gauntlets. These will have the devastating potential to create powerful combination hits.

At its core, the game allows players to combine spells to ramp up their lethality. Like every other battle royale game, “Spellbreak” allows players to loot new equipment that will open access to new situational skills and tactical wizardry.

Yet another thing to entice players to try “Spellbreak” is that it will launch with full cross-platform support across all of its platforms from day one. “Spellbreak” will not only allow friends to form squads and head into the melee regardless of their platform, and the title will also support cross-progression, enabling players to freely switch platforms as often as they would like.

“Spellbreak” is offering a universe cross-platform account accessible from anywhere to achieve this remarkable feat. Not every big multiplayer game can claim that and it should help to at least diminish the problem of keeping multiple communities playing on different systems.
