Police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Bellevue, Washington, for possession of child pornography.

Court records said William Dobson, who was staying at 1800 block of 129th Place SE, possessed "vast amounts of extremely severe content" on his electronic devices, reports KIRO 7.

Officers zeroed in on Dobson following an investigation that began in mid-march. After serving a search warrant at the home, investigators unearthed over 1,000 child pornography images and videos on Dobson’s multiple electronic devices.

According to police, at least 800 of those files had identified child victims.

The records say the pornographic material found with Dobson included videos and photos of pre-teen and very young children being sexually abused.

"This case is extremely disturbing, both in the vast number of images and in the severity of the depictions,” Capt. Debbie Ingram of the Bellevue police said in a statement published Monday. "These children suffer tremendously in producing this material. They are victimized again every time the material is viewed. Our detectives did an outstanding job investigating and building this case against the suspect."

The King County prosecutor has charged Dobson with first-degree dealing in depictions of minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of depictions of minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

However, during an interview with the police, Dobson is said to have admitted to being addicted to child pornography, reports KOMO News.

Dobson reportedly told the officers that though he wanted to quit viewing these illegal materials, his addiction always got the best of him, said court records.

He also claimed to have not committed any hands-on offense against any minors, the documents added.

Dobson currently is booked into the King County Jail on $30,000 bail. His arraignment is set for June 3.

Last month, an off-duty New York City police officer was arrested after investigators found he allegedly possessed child pornography on his phone. Mitchell Emile, 28, was arrested inside the 84th Precinct of the New York City Police Department when an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation led authorities to discover two videos depicting young boys in sexual situations on the officer's phone. He was then charged with two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.
