Big Little Lies” star Nicole Kidman is celebrating her Emmy nomination in the best actress in a limited series or TV movie category!

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actress said that her nomination at the prestigious awards show only goes to show that viewers really connected to her abused character, Celeste. Other than Kidman, the Australian actress’ co-star and good friend Reese Witherspoon is also nominated in the same category. Kidman said that she and Witherspoon have already texted each other about their nominations.

“Big Little Lies” is also rejoicing over their other 14 nominations. Cast members Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Alexander Skarsgard will be competing against each other in the best supporting actress/actor in a limited series or TV movie category. “It’s just unheard of! It’s a shared victory and a shared joy,” Kidman said.

Meanwhile, 16 nominations for a limited series such as “Big Little Lies” certainly opens the discussion for a possible second season for the hit HBO series. Ever since it aired its final episode in May, talks have already been ongoing about Season 2. Witherspoon hinted on the renewal during an interview and a post on Instagram. Kidman echoed her sentiments, but she also stressed that nothing has been finalized yet.

But during her recent interview with EW, Kidman acknowledged the fact that the nominations will get them an inch closer to a possible Season 2. However, she and her co-stars want to make sure that their characters’ storylines will still be as impactful as in Season 1. “But so much of it is trying to stay true to the characters and their voices. If we can do it, then it will be done. I believe their stories warrant it and I don’t want to abandon them. We don’t want to sell them short, either. But I’m hoping we can find it if we take the leap,” she said.

Kidman and her “Big Little Lies” co-stars will attend this year’s Emmy Awards on Sept. 17. “This really feels like one of those moments – we’re going to really enjoy this. It started with friendships and the friendships are strong,” she said.
