The Chicago Bears look to extend their lead in the NFC North, as they host the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. The two teams will conclude Week 7.

While both teams had high expectations heading into the 2012 NFL Season, they have gotten off to two very different starts. The Bears have the second-best record in the NFC at 4-1. The Lions are 2-3 and in last place.

Chicago has won with the best defense in the league through the first six weeks of the season. They have allowed just 14.2 points per game. The Bears have been especially dominant against the run, giving up 65.8 yards per game on the ground.

None of the Bears victories have been close. All four of their wins have come by at least 16 points.

If the Lions want to have any chance of winning, they’ll likely have to do it through the air. Detroit is 19th in the NFL in rushing, and will have trouble finding success against a tough run defense like Chicago.

Matthew Stafford showed in 2011 that he has the ability to carry his team to victories, but he hasn’t been able to do so this year. He’s thrown just four touchdowns, compared to five interceptions.

It hasn’t only been the Bears defense that’s helped them win games. Their offense has played surprisingly well too. Chicago has scored 29.8 points per game, good for third in the NFL.

The addition of Brandon Marshall has been the biggest difference from last year. He’s the team’s leading receiver by more than 300 total yards.

Matt Forte and Michael Bush have split duties this year at running back. The two have both rushed the ball 58 times, combing for 476 total yards.

With their recent struggles, Detroit isn’t expected to win this contest. The betting line has them at 6.5-point underdogs at most Las Vegas sportsbooks.

The game is set to kick-off at 8:30 p.m. ET at Soldier Field. It is set to air nationally on ESPN. You can watch a free live stream online at espn3.com.

Prediction: The Lions are one of the more undisciplined teams in the league. Detroit beat Philadelphia last week, overcoming 16 penalties. It would be nearly impossible for the Lions to defeat the Bears with that kind of effort. Chicago could win this one by a large margin.
