Warner Bros.’ gamble of holding a virtual convention called DC FanDome seems to have worked exceptionally well. The production giant recently revealed that a total of 22 million people tuned in to see the virtual event in its 24-hour run.

In a press release obtained by Variety, Warner Bros. noted that all the film, video game, and TV trailers released during the event pulled in more than 150 million views across various platforms like Twitter and YouTube.

The event was streamed live across 220 countries and received views via the in-house player, live streams by influencers, and a plethora of content generated by the fans while watching the virtual event.

Lisa Gregorian, president and chief marketing officer of Warner Bros. TV group, said that they always wanted to host an event that would “super-serve” the fans.

“We really wanted to put together an event that would super-serve the fans,” Variety quoted Gregorian, as saying.

Gregorian also explained that the virtual event was able to reach fans around the world and that’s something they would not have been able to do through their usual setup.

“We reached a lot of fans around the world that we wouldn’t normally be able to reach. We were able to have questions from India answered, or artwork looked at from the Philippines or South Africa, by the talent,” Gregorian told the publication.

Additionally, the event trended on Twitter and YouTube during its run. It was trending on Twitter in 53 markets while it was trending in 82 markets on the video-sharing platform.

DC FanDome turned out to be a gigantic hit among the comic-book nerds and those who love superhero movies. The event saw some of the biggest stars of Hollywood making an appearance. Stars like Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, Ezra Miller, Viola Davis, and John Cena participated the virtual gathering.

The event also featured trailers for upcoming movies like “The Batman,” “Wonder Woman 1984,” and Zack Snyder’s “Justice League.” It also had a featurette for the “Suicide Squad” film.

The event also gave the highly anticipated first look at “Gotham Knights” and “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.”
