Destiny 2 - Arcstrider
The newly-updated Arcstrider subclass in Season of Plunder Bungie

KEY POINTS

  • The Bombardiers drop bombs every time a Hunter dodges
  • Combination Blow automatically resets the cooldown of Dodge upon killing a target
  • Flow State grants increased energy regeneration and other bonuses when Amplified

"Destiny 2's" Arc 3.0 update gives Guardians the tools to close gaps, hit hard and hit fast while avoiding death through damage mitigation, crowd control and small chunks of healing. This makes many melee and close-quarters builds more viable than ever before.

One such build for Hunters got even better thanks to the new set of aspects and fragments available to the class. With this build, players will be able to dart and weave between enemies while one-shotting groups of mobs and blinding whatever survives.

Here's a brand-new melee Arcstrider build for "Destiny 2."

Recommended Exotics and Skills

This is a hybrid CC/melee build that will make heavy use of the Bombardiers exotic leg piece, which causes Dodge to drop bombs that detonate after a short duration. Since this is an Arc build, the bombs will have an additional Blind effect upon detonation.

Arcstriders naturally do a lot of dodging, and this synergizes well with the bonus that Bombardiers grants. Players can capitalize on this even more by using the Combination Blow and Gambler's Dodge combo, which essentially grants unlimited dodges as long as the former lands final blows on enemies.

Aspects, Fragments and Mods

This build will use Lethal Current and Flow State as its aspects because both provide significant bonuses for a melee-oriented playstyle. The former boosts the effectiveness of melee attacks after dodging, while the latter Amplifies players after defeating a Jolted target.

With these aspects equipped, every kill with Combination Blow will Amplify players while also blinding and electrocuting nearby enemies thanks to Jolt and Lethal Current's flashbang effect, which stacks on top of the Bombardiers passive.

For fragments, use the following:

  • Spark of Resistance
  • Spark of Shock
  • Spark of Frequency
  • Spark of Feedback

Combine this with the following mod setup:

  • Melee Wellmaker
  • Well of Ions
  • Impact Induction
  • Elemental Charge
  • High-Energy Fire

This will increase outgoing melee damage courtesy of Well of Ions and Combination Blow's stacking buff. Additionally, every kill with the melee ability will generate elemental wells that will activate High-Energy Fire for a solid boost to weapon damage.

Flow State and Spark of Resistance should give players enough damage mitigation to survive in a melee scuffle. If not, Combination Blow's innate health regen effect should top them off as long as they can kill something.
