Blizzard is letting gamers know that they are taking “Diablo IV” seriously. They're not rushing things and as such, taking its development one step at a time.

The same can be said when game director Luis Barriga revealed last week that the dev team would be releasing quarterly updates on the progress of “Diablo IV” starting February next year. At the same time, David Kim, Blizzard's lead systems designer will also give his own update, such as the game's items, stats and much more.

This only proves that Blizzard is dead serious with “Diablo IV,” alongside inching a few steps away from the not-so-warm welcome when “Diablo Immortal” was announced.

True to his word, Kim wrote a recent blog about “Diablo IV”'s system design. He called upon the player community as a vital component in Blizzard's ongoing effort to make the game stand out from the field.

“'Diablo IV' is still very much in active development, but we plan to keep you in the loop as we continue to design and iterate so that you can be a part what we're building,” he said. Kim also lauded the game's fans for their suggestions on how to better the game despite the torrent of feedback that they have received since its unveiling.

Kim's blog detailed six main points, and Engadget particularly pointed on his statement concerning the game's endgame progression. The website said that Kim's team is mulling on whether to give it an infinite or finite leveling and experience system.

By this, Kim and his team suggested a level cap to grant casual players with a “sense of completion.” However, those who want to progress further will have a second experience system to up the ante and “capture the fun of achieving those really difficult goals and ranks.”

Kim also touched on itemization and said that they are discussing on how to add more depth and complexity to base items and Rares, as well as to add more variety to item affixes in the process. This will help players to have more flexibility when it comes to customizing their items rather than searching for the best build online.

Polygon on the other hand pointed on the game's Elective Mode for players to choose their own build instead of relying on one skill, one click option.

“With Elective Mode, you can place anything on left click, or run a full build of primary skills on left click, right click and the number keys.”

This is just the tip of the iceberg Blizzard is planning for “Diablo IV” and there will be more come February 2020. For now, it'll be worth the while to anticipate what the team has been working on and should open new doors to more revelations.
