KEY POINTS

  • The launch date for the second season of "Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout" is set for Oct. 8
  • Season 2 will have a medieval flavor, with knights, wizards, dragons and princesses expected
  • New ways to customize the game's iconic jelly beans will also be added such as flags and nicknames

“Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” Season 2 is launching on Thursday, Oct. 8, developer Mediatonic has announced on Twitter.

Already the most downloaded game ever on PlayStation Plus, the second season of “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” will be operating on a seasonal system, much like other battle royale games.

During Gamescom 2020 in August, Mediatonic teased that the game would be going medieval for Season 2. This means levels and outfits featuring knights, wizards, princesses, dragons and more.

“In Season 2, you’ll be dressing your Fall Guy as a medieval hero and competing in brand new rounds inspired by epic quests from the Middle Ages. Cross giant drawbridges, dodge swinging axes, and scale movable siege ramps in the quest for ultimate game show glory,” lead game designer Joe Walsh said in the Season 2 trailer.

Aside from those, there will be some added complications to the levels in the upcoming “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” Season 2, Polygon reported. The trailer showed that players will be able to drag some elements into certain positions to complete certain tasks before them.

The challenge, of course, is to compete against dozens of other players simultaneously to get optimum placement.

Published by Devolver Digital, the second season of “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” also features more Crowns as progress rewards and new ways to customize beans such as flags and nicknames. For a short time after the switch, Mediatonic will be giving away double fame points as well.

The popularity of “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” was felt almost as soon as the game was released. In August, Mediatonic announced an online auction for charity that brands could participate in to get their skin in the game.

The winning bid came from a superstar team-up of Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, G2 Esports, Aim Lab and YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, who came up with the winning bid of $1 million. The amount was donated to SpecialEffect, a U.K.-based charity that helps people with physical disabilities play video games.
