‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Movie Poster Hints At Upcoming Showdown With Mrs. Robinson

The recently released movie poster for “Fifty Shades Darker” is hot, hot, HOT. The photo for the upcoming sequel to “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which was released on Monday, simply shows Christian putting a delicate mask on Anastasia. However, fans of the E.L. James series know that there is a lot more to it than that.

“Slip into something a shade ‘Darker’,” the poster reads.

“Fifty Shades Darker” readers will remember that Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) takes Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) to a masquerade ball at the home of his parents shortly after they reconcile. It’s an evening that is supposed to raise money for charity — but Christian and Ana use the event to heat up their relationship.

After drinking too much champagne, Anastasia accidentally bids $24,000 on a weekend getaway at Christian’s Aspen home. Needless to say, Anastasia doesn’t have the money. Christian is more than happy to pa y for it. However, he warns his belle that there is an added fee for her bold behavior.

Things escalate later in the evening when Christian gets into a bidding war with his therapist, Dr. John Flynn, for a first dance with Ana. But it’s what happens later in the evening that’s a real shocker. Anastasia runs into Elena Lincoln, AKA Mrs. Robinson, while in the bathroom. Although Ana already has her own thoughts about Mrs. Robinson taking advantage of Christian as a teen, Mrs. Robinson surprises her by telling her that Christian loves her. However, their conversation takes a turn when Mrs. Robinson threatens her.

“I’ve never seen him so happy, and it’s obvious that you have feelings for him, too,” Mrs. Robinson tells Ana. “That’s great, and I wish you both the best of everything. But what I wanted to say is if you hurt him again, I will find you, lady, and it won’t be pleasant when I do.”

The full “Fifty Shades Darker” trailer will be released on Tuesday. The movie hits theaters on Feb. 10, 2017.
