Barry (Grant Gustin) can’t keep a secret from Iris (Candice Patton).

In the trailer for Season 3, episode 10 of “The Flash,” Iris figures out that there’s something Barry is not telling her. And when she confronts him about it, the Scarlet Speedster is left with no choice but to tell her what he saw in the future. “The future has changed. I saw Savitar murder you,” Barry reveals to his girlfriend in the time vault inside S.T.A.R. Labs.

As expected, Iris doesn’t take the news well. But Barry promised her that he would do everything to protect her.

Barry also tells the rest of Team Flash about what he saw in the future and enlists everyone’s help to make sure that the Savitar won’t end up stabbing Iris to death. “We need to figure out everything that happens leading to Iris’ death. We can change one of these events; we can change them all,” Barry tells the team.

For his first attempt to change the future, Barry teams up with Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) to catch Jared Morillo, a.k.a. Plunder. “Iris needs a hero right now, Wally. We can prove that we can alter the future here and now,” Barry tells Kid Flash in the trailer.

To check whether they have altered the future after their first try, Barry, together with Cisco (Carlos Valdes), travels into the future.

Since saving Iris is Team Flash’s main objective in the second half of the season, fans can expect that the team won’t be able to alter the future very soon. Although changing the future seems to be more difficult than thought, executive producer Aaron Helbing recently told TVLine that Barry would do his best just to prevent Iris’ death. “Obviously Barry loves Iris more than anything,” Helbing said. “And now that he has gotten a glimpse of the future, the thrust of the back half of the season is Barry trying to do whatever it takes to save her.”

On Dec. 8, Gustin also took to Twitter to assure fans that his character is all about preventing what he saw in the future. Read his tweet below:
