Kate Middleton wowed the world in a stunning dress at her marriage. In a church.

But is the commoner-cum-duchess Jewish?

Kate's mother Carole's maiden name is Goldsmith. This revelation set the Internet abuzz with questions about Middleton's heritage -- Is Kate the first Jewish royal?

According to the Jewish tradition, any child born to a Jewish mother is Jewish.

Recently, JewOrNotJew.com an authority on celebrity Judaism looked into Middleton's genealogy and found some answers: The past five generations of Goldsmiths have been married in churches.

But with a name so quintessentially Jewish as Goldsmith, some say its still possible that Middleton has some distant Jewish ancestry.

Regardless of her ancestors' faith, she's the chosen person in the eyes of her beloved Prince William.
