Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s rift will be very damaging to the monarchy if it were to continue for years.

The Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge are rumored to be having a ghastly row for a year now. Middleton and Markle have been seen together a couple of times with their husbands Prince William and Prince Harry, respectively. However, the fab four are reportedly feuding and this could greatly affect the monarchy.

“I think it would be dreadful and very, very damaging for the monarchy if there was some major rift that they weren’t able to heal and which was to carry on for years to come,” royal commentator Phil Dampier told Express.co.uk.

“I think that would be absolutely devastating for the Royal Family and devastating for the future of the monarchy,” he added.

Dampier is releasing a new book titled “Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in Their Own Words.” In the publication, he also covered the alleged rift between the two duchesses. Dampier believes that there’s something in the stories about Middleton and Markle’s tiff before the royal wedding.

According to him, any bride before their big day is nervous and all families tend to have small tiffs. It was reported that Middleton scolded Markle after the latter berated one of her staff. However, the palace denied that the said incident happened.

Middleton and Markle’s alleged beef started when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for Christmas. Markle was reportedly judged as “downright rude.” In addition, Middleton told her something that didn’t sit well with her.

Markle complained to Prince Harry that she was being “told off.” The Duke of Sussex took her side. On the other hand, Prince William defended Middleton who was still pregnant with Prince Louis at the time.

According to body language expert Judi James, Middleton and Markle’s rift was visible in their first royal engagement back in February. Although they were photographed smiling, the shots were misleading.

Despite the fab four’s rift, they are expected to spend Christmas together with Queen Elizabeth II in Sandringham. Prince William, Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle have just reunited in a Christmas lunch hosted by Her Majesty on Wednesday.
