Kate Middleton and Prince William have cheeky endearment for each other.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge can sometimes be playful, and this is also reflected in the way they call each other. Becky Pemberton, a journalist for The Sun, claimed that Middleton and Prince William have surprising nicknames for each other that no one would expect.

Middleton reportedly called her husband “Big Willy” when they were still dating. However, the duchess’ pet name for her spouse has changed to “baldy” due to the duke’s endless complaints about his mane.

Prince William has a jokey pet name for his wife too. The second in line to the throne apparently calls Middleton “DoD,” which stands for Duchess of Dolittle.

Just recently, netizens shared their thoughts about Middleton’s role in the royal family. A number were disappointed that she has been with them for eight years, but she still hasn’t done much, unlike her sister-in-law Meghan Markle. They were disappointed that after almost a decade, she seems stuck on year one. One Twitter user called the royal mom of three “duchess do little” due to her lack of efforts in doing more after joining the royal fold.

Prince William and Middleton’s nicknames for each other might appear offensive to others, but they were designed for fun and not to make the other party feel bad. In fact, it’s “done with affection,” and they also use their nicknames to identify one another while not making that information public.

A royal source told publications that the members of the royal family are not very good at communicating so they use nicknames to ease out the tension. Also, they are a "childlike" family because they reportedly love to play games and give each other silly presents.

Every Christmas, the royal family exchange gifts, but unlike others, they don’t seek out to impress each other with their presents. Instead, they opt for a cheap “joke gift.” They reportedly believe that the cheaper the gift is, the better it is.

Prince Harry once gifted Queen Elizabeth II a shower cap with the words “ ain't life a bitch” on the front. The Duke of Sussex also received a hilarious present from his sister-in-law, Middleton: a “Grow a Girlfriend” kit. Middleton gave the present to Prince Harry before he met Markle.
