Meghan Markle's father Thomas recently took credit for the Duchess of Sussex's success.

Markle's dad, Thomas Markle Sr., has not spoken to the new royal for a long time, but he continues to make noise by giving paid interviews, hoping that Prince Harry and Markle would reach out to him. During one chat, he insisted that he will continue trying to reach out to his daughter and said that she owed him some gratitude.

"I refuse to stay quiet," Thomas said. "What riles me is Meghan's sense of superiority. She'd be nothing without me. I made her the Duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her. [...] She became the woman that she is today thanks to everything I did for her. And did I get any recognition for it? Any thanks? She doesn't even speak to me now. How cold is that?"

Prior to the interview, Markle's half-sister, Samantha Markle, urged her to help their dad financially. "If you can spend $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad," she said about Markle's expensive gown during her engagement photo shoot.

According to Samantha, the former "Suits" actress wouldn't enjoy the success she now had without their father. Samantha pointed out that their father gave Markle the best education, social connections and contacts in the industry. As such, she wanted the Duchess of Sussex to recognize their dad's effort in the form of a monetary support.

In June, Thomas denied that he asked money from his royal daughter. According to him, he has enough money and doesn't need much as he "leads a frugal life by choice and doesn't need extra cash."

However, Thomas continued to cash in from Prince Harry and Markle's royal romance by making paid interviews. This reportedly made the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "frustrated."

"[They] are frustrated he keeps speaking to the tabloids and taking payment for interviews," a source told Entertainment Tonight.

Thomas made headlines in the run-up of Prince Harry and Markle's royal wedding when he agreed with paparazzi to stage his photos and receive cash from it. He later announced that he would not be able to attend his daughter's big day and walk her down the aisle because he had a major heart surgery.

However, a source said that Thomas just made up the excuse to skip the event because he needed a concrete reason not to be there. Thomas reportedly faked his heart surgery to avoid further embarrassment.
