Michelle Obama has revealed she no longer stops her daughters from getting tattoos, though, at one point, she used to threaten them against getting inked.

Michelle shares two daughters - Malia, 24 and Sasha, 21 - with her husband, former President Barack Obama.

The 58-year-old former first lady recalled she and Barack used to threaten their kids from getting tattoos because it "meant something totally different" for their generation. However, things have changed now and as a parent, they no longer limit their kids.

"We need to create a broader definition of who's American, who counts, what beauty is," Michelle said on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" on Tuesday. "It only helps our kids. We don't know who they're going to become and we want to make sure there's a space for them whoever they choose to be."

The host of the show, Kelly Clarkson, agreed with Michelle.

She went on to explain that it shouldn't be "politicized" as most kids these days who are "wearing tattoos and piercings, they've got long nails -- their value system is about individuality."

Clarkson recalled how back in the day, tattoos were considered "so bad," and Michelle replied, "My generation, didn't, tattoos meant something totally different." She added that they used to "threaten" their children if they get any tattoo, they will also make the same tattoo and share it on social media.

"Take the cool all away," Michelle jokingly said. "Barack Obama is going to have a heart on his shoulder." Clarkson lauded Michelle for sharing the "greatest mom tip of the day."

During the interview, Michelle also spoke about celebrating her 30th wedding anniversary with Barack in October. She shared how they "recreated" their first honeymoon moments when they couldn't afford much.

"Started in San Francisco and just drove along the coast," she recalled about their first honeymoon. "And stopped in really nice places. That's what we did in October. He recreated all of that."

The former first lady noted that this time was "slightly different" as they did the same things on a motorcycle and under the surveillance of the Secret Service.
