Rise and shine. Ready for more E3 announcements? Nintendo's event is coming up quickly, slated to begin at 10 a.m. EDT. Watch the live stream of the Nintendo Direct event here.

Like Sony and Microsoft yesterday, Nintendo is expected to make a slew of announcements about its two most recently released platforms: the Nintendo Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. However, Microsoft, and Sony especially, have stolen the show to this point, showing off brand-new hardware and scores of new games. What can Nintendo do to make its own splash at E3 2013? Tune in to find out.

We're hoping to see announcements of new "Metroid" games. After all, there hasn't been a new "Metroid" released since 2010's "Metroid: Other M." Considering that the Wii U has suffered from poor sales since its launch last year, Nintendo should do everything it can to embrace its flagship franchises. Since "Metroid" dates back to the release of the original NES, a three-year gap of no "Metroid" releases is unacceptable. This needs to end now.
