  • A pipe bomb was found and destroyed at RNC headquarters in Washington, D.C.
  • DNC offices were evacuated after the discovery of a suspicious package.
  • This occurred only blocks away from where Trump supporters were storming the Capitol Building

As a mob breached the Capitol Building on Wednesday, a pipe bomb was discovered at the headquarters of the Republican National Committee and a suspicious package was found at the Democratic National Committee.

Both the RNC offices and the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee have been evacuated.

The explosive device at the RNC headquarters was successfully destroyed by a bomb squad with no injuries, three people involved told the New York Times.

The two headquarters are located a few blocks away from the Capitol, which was stormed by a mob Wednesday while Congress certified President-elect Joe Biden's election win. President Donald Trump had addressed a crowd in the morning.

It is unclear who sent the pipe bomb and the package.

The mob, which breached the Capitol building, fought with police and vandalized the building.

“This is what the president has caused today, this insurrection,” said Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah.

The chaos brought the certification of the electoral vote to a halt as the Capitol Building complex was locked down and officials were forced to evacuate.
