Las Vegas witnessed heavy snowfall Wednesday night, with reports of snow accumulations between one and three inches in some parts.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the valley effective from 6 p.m. local time (9 p.m. EST) Wednesday to 4 a.m. local time (7 a.m. EST) Friday.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Buratczuk said, "The problem with the storm is we really don't know what's going to happen, there's predicitions for snow but we could wake up tomorrow and there could be nothing, or there could be 3 to 4 inches on the ground, we just don't know,” Las Vegas Now reported.

Several people took to Twitter to share photos and videos of the snowfall.

Several roads were closed due to the snowfall.

“SR160 is closed in both directions due to heavy snowfall. There are multiple vehicles off the roadway. NDOT is plowing at this time but it’s unknown when and if the SR160 will reopen,” Nevada Highway Patrol - Southern Command tweeted.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Department warned people the cold temperatures could cause personal as well as property damage. With night temperatures expected to be near freezing, wet spots on the ground could freeze and get slippery. Freezing water inside exposed pipes could damage it, resulting in leakage. The department also warned people not to take their pets outside.

“If using a space heater to get ready for work/school, make sure to unplug it before you leave & make sure nothing is around it. Make sure the stove is OFF on the way out too. Dress warmly, it’s freezing in some neighborhoods,” the department tweeted.

Flyers were also asked to check with their airline about delays due to the weather. McCarran International Airport spokesperson said the airport did not have snowplows, however, if too much snow was accumulated on the runways, airport staff would use other equipment to remove it.

Several school districts will determine whether or not to cancel school Thursday. Clark County School District said it will update on the closure by 5 a.m. Thursday.
