Before you tweet, be aware of the trouble it could bring to your relationship!

Social media only continues to grow in popularity, we use at work, on the go, and at home. But connecting on this digital platform could harm the relationships we have in our real lives.

A study conducted by the University of Missouri found that Twitter usage can lead people to cheat, or be jealous, which can result in heartbreak.

The study called "The Third Wheel" used interviews with 581 active Twitter users to draw their conclusions. The author of the study, Russell Clayton, said, “Twitter and Facebook use can be damaging to relationships.” A strong finding from the study was the negative effects of jealousy on social media platforms.

While Twitter and Facebook may have potentially damaging effects on your relationship, Clayton says it can be solved by limiting time on social media.

The lines between our virtual and real lives continue to be increasingly blurred as studies show the negative effects of too much time on social.
