Former Attorney General William Barr said ex-President Donald Trump revealed to him his secrets to getting a “good tweet,” according to his memoir.

In Barr’s forthcoming book, “One Damn Thing After Another: Memoirs of an Attorney General,” the former attorney general said Trump once approached him at the end of a meeting and let him in on the secret that made his tweets popular.

“Do you know what the secret is of a really good tweet? Just the right amount of crazy,” Trump told Barr, according to The Washington Post, which obtained details leaked from the memoir.

In the book, Barr also warned Republicans against choosing Trump as the GOP presidential candidate in 2024, adding that he has “neither the temperament nor persuasive powers” that people in leadership roles need.

Barr also said the former president has surrounded himself with “sycophants” and “whack jobs from outside the government” who fed him with disproven conspiracy theories.

“He stopped listening to his advisers, became manic and unreasonable, and was off the rails,” Barr wrote, according to The New York Times, which also obtained leaked details from the memoir. “He surrounded himself with sycophants, including many whack jobs from outside the government, who fed him a steady diet of comforting but unsupported conspiracy theories.”

The former attorney general's memoir will be available by March 8.

Barr, who is a strong conservative, was once known as one of Trump’s most loyal allies. The former attorney general said they both bonded over their shared dislike of former FBI director James B. Comey.

Barr’s relationship with Trump frayed after he declined to prosecute Comey in connection with his handling of memos documenting conversations with the former president. In the memoir, he wrote that Trump always reminded Barr how unhappy he was of the former attorney general’s decision.

In December 2020, Barr resigned from his position after the Justice Department failed to find any evidence of voter fraud during the 2020 November elections. While he sang praises of the Trump administration in his resignation letter, he has since joined a growing list of former Trump officials who have dismissed the former president’s unfounded claims about the 2020 election results.
