What’s next for Josh Duggar? The former “19 Kids and Counting” star was engulfed in scandals throughout 2015, but things might be looking up for the 27-year-old in the new year.

Earlier this year reports surfaced that Josh had molested his younger sisters as a teen and that he'd cheated on his wife, Anna Duggar, using the website Ashley Madison. In August the reality star entered the Reformers Unanimous recovery center in Rockford, Illinois. It’s still unclear when he will leave the program, however, his family is working on welcoming him back with open arms after he’s done seeking treatment.

Despite missing out on the holiday with his wife and four young children, the Duggars are reportedly “focusing on forgiveness this season.”

“Jim Bob keeps saying this is just a new level of forgiveness,” an insider revealed to People magazine.

Meanwhile, Anna broke her silence on the TLC special “Jill and Jessa: Counting On.” Josh’s wife has visited him at the rehab facility, and explained on the final episode that she was hoping to “restore” her marriage.

Take a look back at Josh Duggar’s scandalous 2015 below:

May 19, 2015 – In Touch Weekly obtained legal documents that Josh was involved in an underage sex scandal in 2005. According to the documents, Josh allegedly touched a young girl inappropriately. His father, Jim Bob Duggar, reported him to the Arkansas State Police.

May 21, 2015 – A few days after the police report leaked, the Duggar family released a statement on their official Facebook page. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar acknowledged their son’s “mistakes” and wrote that the incident led them to “seek God like never before.” Anna also spoke out about her husband, informing the “19 Kids and Counting” fan base that Josh told her about his troubled teenage years prior to them getting married. Josh released his own statement, writing that he “acted inexcusably” and that he is “extremely sorry.”

“I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” he said in the statement. “I confessed this to my parents, who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions.”

May 21 , 2015 – Josh resigned from his position as an executive director at the Family Research Council the same day that the Duggar family released a statement on his teenage sexual misconduct. Tony Perkins, president of FRC, said that the lobbying group would be “praying for everyone involved.”
