An Argentine woman was arrested Thursday after she was caught on camera killing her neighbor’s pet dog.

According to reports, the unidentified 58-year-old woman returned home Monday and found the neighbor’s canine fighting with her pet dog. The woman separated both the canines before dragging his neighbor’s dog to the backyard of her home and hanging it to a tree. She then stabbed the dog in front of two children, aged four and six. The relationship between the woman and the two children was not known.

A video of the incident, recorded by a 10-year-old boy who lived next door, showed the four-year-old girl trying to save the dog by hitting the woman with a rope. However, the suspect stabs the canine with a knife before the sisters run away from the scene

Jonathan, the dog’s owner, said his pet often wandered out of his home and headed to his ex-wife’s home where she lived with his daughter. He said he rescued the canine from a garbage dump two years ago.

“We never imagined this ending and we need this lady to be behind bars. She's not right in the head. She cannot subject an animal to such cruelty in front of minors and get out of this with impunity. She was even recorded while doing it, I don't know what other proof it takes for someone to help us,” he wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday.

The woman was taken into custody Thursday and will face up to an year in jail if found guilty of the crime.
