Dallas Teenager Fatally Shoots Mother's Girlfriend, Arrested

A teenager shot his mother’s girlfriend to death in Dallas on Saturday (June 13). The 19-year-old was arrested and charged with murder.

According to Dallas police, officers were dispatched to a home at the 6000 block of Crosswood Lane near Simpson Stuart and J.J. Lemmon roads in Dallas around 3:00 a.m. Saturday after an unknown caller reported about a shooting. They found the 39-year-old victim, identified as Ambra Brown, unresponsive inside the home. Brown suffered serious gunshot wounds and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by the Dallas Fire and Rescue.

During a preliminary investigation, witnesses told police that the teen, identified as Brad Maximus Robertson, got into an argument with Brown, who lived in the same house. According to reports, Brown and Robertson’s mother, whose identity was not revealed, were dating each other.

Following the altercation, Robertson pulled out a handgun and opened fire at Brown. According to witnesses, he fired multiple shots at Brown.

Robertson was initially arrested and booked into the Lew Sterrett Jail on a charge of aggravated assault. An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Robertson told the arresting officers that he hid the gun in the hood of a car. He was released on a $75,000 bond.

However, Brown succumbed to her injuries Sunday. Robertson was rearrested Tuesday and charged with murder. No bond was set on him.

The motive behind the murder was unclear. It was also not known how Robertson got hold of the gun.

This was an ongoing investigation and no further details were available at the time of this writing.

The incident was reported days after a man from Port Arthur, Texas, shot his ex-girlfriend before kidnapping their 7-month-old baby. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Nathan Roberts Jr., forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home and opened fire at her. He is the infant’s biological father. The boy was later found safe and was reunited with his mother.
