KEY POINTS

  • Non-craftable weapons will no longer have Deepsight Resonance in "Lightfall"
  • Bungie will address weapon leveling and XP farming in future seasons
  • Adept "Lightfall" raid weapons will have access to enhanced perks

Bungie revealed its plans to make even more tweaks to "Destiny 2's" weapon crafting system upon the release of the "Lightfall" expansion, which isn't due until February 2023.

Changes to Deepsight weapons, crafting currency and weapon XP farming are coming in next year's expansion pack, according to Bungie's latest update. The developers are particularly aiming at reducing Deepsight weapon hoarding to alleviate vault stress and reduce the overall grind for red-border farming by introducing new farming methods.

Bungie said that the abundance of Deepsight weapon drops across most activities has caused confusion about their value. New players aren't sure which weapons are craftable, while veterans reportedly tend to stow red-border weapons in their vaults for when they are in need of crafting materials.

This hoarding behavior goes against the developers' intended Deepsight weapon experience. In the blog post, Bungie emphasized that it wants players to try out different guns but not just for the sake of currency farming.

To alleviate both issues at once, starting in "Lightfall," non-craftable weapons will no longer drop with Deepsight.

Farming for craftable weapons is also getting targeted in the next expansion. Though the devs did not specify the exact method they plan to implement, they did say that they want to provide players with more opportunities to get the specific Deepsight weapons they want.

This should reduce the grind that many players have been complaining about since the start of Season 18.

The blog post also mentioned the usual Shuro Chi XP farming method that involves the Last Wish raid and the aforementioned boss encounter. Bungie acknowledged the effectiveness of the strategy but noted how tedious it can be. They also pointed out that there is no way to level up Deepsight and crafted weapons outside of equipping them.

Oddly enough, Bungie did not specify how it plans to address these issues.

Lastly, "Lightfall" raid Adept weapons will have access to enhanced perks. However, this does not mean that they will be fully craftable like Deepsight weapons. This may imply that Master raid content can be modified in the weapon crafting station despite not being craftable themselves.
