In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder Elon Musk warned that there would be political attacks against him. He then revealed that he would vote for Republican candidates in future elections.

In an earlier tweet, Musk warned that attacks against him would "escalate dramatically" over the next few months.

Political attacks on me will escalate dramatically in coming months

Following that tweet, he then accused Democrats of being "the party of division & hate," echoing similar Republican sentiments. Following the mass shooting in Buffalo, Democrats accused Republicans of repeating and supporting white supremacist rhetoric. Then the GOP pushed back by saying it was Democrats who fueled division.

This is not the first time the world's richest man, with a net worth of $230.4 billion, discussed his increasing frustration with Democrats.

After his offer to purchase Twitter for $44 billion, Musk faced pushback from progressives who accused him of abusing free speech. Musk describes himself as a free speech absolutist, causing fears that his purchase of the social media platform would lead to more disinformation.

In the past, Musk admitted he viewed the Democratic party as "the kindness party." Above all, he is upset that Democrats drifted further left than he feels comfortable with. Comparatively, he feels that centrists and conservatives maintained the same views.

Musk is emphatically anti-union and anti-billionaire tax, making him a fierce Biden critic.

"Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold," he told his 94 million Twitter followers.

In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold … _

The Tesla CEO received pushback from those he called "the far left" for his remarks. On the left, many pointed out attacks on LGBTQ+ rights across the U.S. led by the conservative party. Republicans also went after voting rights. Conservatives may limit or ban abortion in around 26 states if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.

Judging by the relentless hatestream from the far left, this tweet was spot on

GOP will do the same if you don’t fall in line. “Division & hate” is how the duopoly operates. These old parties are about force & coercion. Progress comes from human cooperation, which comes from freedom. Change politics by investing in alternatives to these intolerant parties.

Musk's critics also pointed out members of the Republican party also back former President Donald Trump's "big lie." A majority of Republican politicians believe Democrats stole the 2020 election that put President Joe Biden in office. That lie led to the Jan. 6 insurrection on the Capitol.

One party tried to overthrow the government. The other one just wants billionaires to pay taxes and people to have healthcare. You have fallen so deep into the far right algorithms that you have lost all sense of reality. Nobody is out to get you. They just want to be left alone.

Many also pointed out how voting along Republican lines might not be in Musk's best interest. A lot of Republican politicians are climate change deniers who would generally oppose a push toward electric vehicles. Tesla is one of the major electric vehicle manufacturers in the U.S.

Hey man, if you want to support a bunch of electric vehicle-hating climate deniers, that’s on you.
Not sure it helps the cause that you and your team have dedicated much of your lives to, but I guess you’ll get some attention on Twitter, so there’s that!

Subsequently, many Republican politicians were quick to welcome Musk to their side.

Welcome, Elon. Glad to have you. __

Welcome to the right side, Elon!
