Needless to say, parties can cause unwanted yet inevitable weight gain. But don’t worry, you need not think about missing out on all the fun or going to a barbecue party and have just water or plain salad. Continue reading to find out how you can party hard without getting out of shape.

  • Avoid drinking on an empty stomach- Not only will you get too high but you tend to get a lot of munchies and mini burgers. Try not to over-indulge in snacks or junk foods while you party.
  • Diet expert Jane Wenham-Jones says Plan ahead- Have a light lunch if you're going to booze tonight. And try to manage the whole week by indulging in a low-calorie diet throughout the week if there’s going to be a party during the weekend. After all, it might be guilt-free when you attend a party by the weekend with a flatter stomach. Isn’t it?
  • Get enough H20- It is ideal for general healthy life as well to stay in shape while partying. Make it a habit to have a glass of water after each drink. It will not only help flush out the alcohol and toxins from your body but also prevent you from drinking excessively.
  • Eat protein instead of fat while drinking- Alcohol is toxic and your body cannot store it. Naturally, we tend to prioritize alcohol as the primary source of energy. Alcohol also reduces your body’s ability to burn fat. To counteract this, it is recommended that you consume copious amounts of lean protein or low-fat foods on days you know will be drinking. Your body might not be able to use all the fat you eat that day and the protein you consume might keep you satiated for a longer duration.
  • Opt for drinks with lower calories- For example, ten whiskeys might be less than 1,000 calories whereas the same amount of Pina Coladas might have thrice the number of calories due to the sugar and coconut milk addition.
  • Portion control- Ensure to control your portions of both food and alcohol. Take bite-sized portions, if you’re tempted about almost everything on the spread.
  • Have fun- Dance or at least keep moving at a party. While dancing can burn about 400 calories per hour, walking around can certainly help boost your metabolism and burn some calories.
