Although Kate Middleton is happily married to Prince William, there was a time when she was “jealous” of her little sister, Pippa Middleton.

Kate and Pippa currently appear to have a close relationship, but when Kate was young, she was reportedly concerned her sister would outshine her.

In a resurfaced article from 2008, reporter, Emma Cowing wrote a piece in The Scotsman that claimed there was a one-sided sibling rivalry between Kate and Pippa.

“While the sisters appear close – they are often pictured holding hands, and currently share a flat in Chelsea (although Kate is rumored to spend most of her time nowadays at Clarence House) – there is, allegedly, some jealousy between the pair,” she explained.

Cowing claimed Pippa was more outgoing than her older sister. “Kate was always quite jealous of Pippa. I sensed that she feared being eclipsed by her,” the journalist wrote.

“Because Pippa has more natural effervescence, she is socially much more at ease and was always popular with everyone, especially (brother) James’ friends.”

When Pippa enrolled at Kate’s school, she quickly formed a large circle of friends. “As soon as Pippa arrived at Edinburgh, she was assiduous about joining the right social circle. She was very charming about it, but quite ruthless in cultivating the ‘right’ friends,” Cowing revealed.

“If she found out that someone had impressive social credentials – the right title, standing, connections – she would immediately pay them a lot of attention, whereas before, she wouldn’t have shown the least interest.”

Although Pippa was a social butterfly, Kate managed to catch Prince William’s eye during their university years. The couple eventually married and are now parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
