In recent weeks, police have been searching for new details regarding the 2007 disappearance of 3-year-old Madeleine McCann. Upon her parents Kate and Gerry McCann realizing that their daughter was missing from their hotel room in Praia da Luz, Portugal, an official investigation began. Now, following Christian Brückner's identification as the prime suspect, new reports have revealed how he has allegedly responded to being named in the McCann case.

According to The Sun, attorney Friedrich Fulscher, who is representing Brückner, stated that his client "denies any involvement" in McCann's case. This comment follows a string of questionable behavior that some say Brückner exhibited in the years following her disappearance. As reported, he allegedly told friends that drugs and children could easily be transported inside his RV and once "freaked out" when McCann's name was mentioned by co-workers.

Aside from Brückner's denial pertaining to his suspected involvement, other reports have indicated that authorities in different countries have also been discussing what to do with a sample of DNA that was taken from the McCann's hotel room in Praia da Luz. As reported by The Daily Mail, Portuguese police turned down German prosecutors' request to retest the sample that was taken into evidence.

Calling the move "arrogant," a source close to the Policia Judiciaria said. "We have already tried and it's insulting to be asked to do this again."

Continuing, they added, "This is a total waste of time. What's even worse is they now want to do it in their labs, as if ours aren't good enough. Why do they think their DNA testing centre is any better than ours?"

As for where the "unsolvable" case stands moving forward, some have indicated that they believe "significant" evidence could be provided by unexpected people. Additionally, it had also been reported that Brückner himself has refused to cooperate throughout the investigation.
