Meghan Markle's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., thinks that her high-profile romance with Prince Harry has affected the family negatively.

Last week, Markle's future sister-in-law, Darlene Blount, was arrested just a few minutes before the clock struck midnight on New Year's Day. Blount was charged with "fourth degree assault" after attacking Thomas due to a boozed-up altercation. In a recent interview with Daily Mail, it seems that the "Suits" star's half-brother is blaming her royal romance with Prince Harry for the scrutiny they are facing following the New Year's brawl with his fiancée. The family is attracting more attention, especially since Meghan and Prince Harry's royal wedding is fast approaching. Whatever happens to the actress' family members makes headlines because they are related to the next royal bride.

"It hasn't been easy. Meghan's relationship with Prince Harry has shone a spotlight on our family," Markle Jr. said. "It doesn't help when you have issues and your sister is engaged to Royalty. It adds a whole new level of scrutiny."

Initially, Markle Jr. said that Blount had begun "pummelling me in the face with her fists." However, he later changed his statement and said that the injuries he had were self-inflicted.

When Blount and Markle's half-brother returned home he "said some swear words." It ended up in an argument. Blount called the police, but she ended up arrested.

"I might have said that Darlene beat me up," Markle Jr. explained. "She was arrested for domestic violence. It was a big confusion."

While Markle Jr. and Blount were in trouble on New Year's Day, Markle and Prince Harry were enjoying the holidays in Monaco. In fact, the royal couple reportedly "partied like tycoons" in Monte Carlo.

"Monte Carlo is party central at this time of the year and the word is that the British Royals really enjoyed themselves," the insider said. "What's certain is that they were partying like tycoons on New Year's Day. Fun around Monaco is never understated, and always costs a fortune."

In related news, there are claims that Markle wants her mom, Doria Radlan, to walk her down the aisle on her big day. Meanwhile, other sources claim that the "Horrible Bosses" star has already asked her dad to do the honor.

On the other hand, Markle Jr. offered to escort his half-sister on her bridal procession in case their father could not make it. "If my dad doesn't walk her down the aisle, then I will," he said.
