Sony CEO Jack Tretton remarked Tuesday that while first-party PS4 games won't be subjected to used games and DRM, the policies that third-party games will adopt with respect to the PS4 is ultimately up to their publishers.

"The DRM decision is going to have to be in the hands of the third parties. That's not something that we're going to dictate or mandate or control or implement," Tretton said, speaking with Game Trailers

One could make the argument that by leaving this detail out of Monday night's PS4 reveal, Sony deceived the gaming world and wanted to absorb all the goodwill it could. On the other hand, it's been widely reported that this stated policy merely continues the policy towards used games and DRM on the PS3. If that's the case, then gamers have nothing to fear.
