Over the years, Prince Harry has gushed about his close relationship with Queen Elizabeth, but after he met Meghan Markle, the monarch noticed something that caused her to resent her grandson.

Although Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan inspired him to make positive changes, his refusal to meet Elizabeth’s expectations created tension in their relationship.

In the book, “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love,” Katie Nicholl claimed Queen Elizabeth wasn’t a fan of Prince Harry’s facial hair and believed men should be “clean-shaven.”

The monarch was reportedly content with Harry’s decision to grow out his facial hair when he served in the military, but when he returned to his royal duties in 2015, she grew frustrated that he made no attempts to clean up his look.

After Prince Harry met Meghan a few years later, Elizabeth noticed the “Suits” actress inspired the Duke of Sussex’s “health overhaul.” However, Harry “was still sporting the beard he had grown while in the military.”

Although Prince Harry reportedly “looked fitter than he had in years,” Queen Elizabeth “disliked” his beard.

“The Queen soon let her displeasure be known. She doesn’t mind royal men growing beards when they are away in the armed forces or out in the wild like Harry was in the Antarctic, but she expects them to be clean-shaven when they get home,” Nicholl revealed.

However, the monarch seemed to be the only person who had an issue with Harry’s unkempt facial hair. “The rest of the family liked it and were taking the mickey, especially his cousin Zara, who dubbed him Prince Hairy,” the royal biographer wrote.

Despite Queen Elizabeth’s reservations, it seems Prince Harry has no plans to shave his beard. Over the weekend, the Duke of Sussex attended “The Lion King” premiere alongside his wife, where he proudly rocked his scruffy beard.
