KEY POINTS

  • Ubisoft is moving up the launch of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" a whole week so the title will release alongside the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S
  • Nov. 10 also marks the launch date of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia
  • The title will also support Microsoft's Smart Delivery program, giving players all next-gen upgrades for free when moving to either the Xbox Series X or Series S from the Xbox One version

The release date for “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” moves up a whole week to coincide with the launch of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on Nov. 10.

Ubisoft has confirmed this move even as the next chapter in the “Assassin’s Creed” series is also launched for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia, according to GameSpot.

Since Sony has not yet announced a launch date for its own next-gen console in the PlayStation 5, no release date has yet been made for that console’s edition of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.”

The game will also support Microsoft's Smart Delivery program. This means that you will get all next-gen upgrades for free when moving to either the Xbox Series X or Series S from the Xbox One version. PS4 players who move up to the PS5 will also get next-gen upgrades for free.

Early gameplay impressions of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” allow players to choose between a male or a female Viking protagonist named Eivor. The setting is the late 9th century when Anglo-Saxons had already lost parts of rural East Anglia to Viking colonists.

The Xbox Series X version of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” will run at a full 60 frames per second and 4K resolution. Because of the faster SSD used on the newer systems, expect improved textures and significantly faster loading times.

After months of speculation, Microsoft finally announced its more affordable, digital-only Xbox Series S that can supposedly deliver the same Xbox Series X experience but at lower than 4K resolutions.

With the launch date of the PlayStation 5 still up in the air, let alone the price of the console, that has left titles appearing on multiple consoles like “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” with a hole in their release schedule.

“Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” promises to once again put an emphasis on stealth, something that was a standard in early games in the series. Like in those early games, you can put on a cloak, lower your hood, and blend into crowds to avoid detection as you carry out your mission.

You can pre-order Assassin's Creed Valhalla now, with multiple editions to choose from.
