Nancy Pelosi, the only woman to hold the position of speaker of the House of Representatives, is one of the richest members of Congress.

The 82-year-old politician has an estimated net worth of more than $106 million, according to a New York Post analysis.

The figure was calculated using the methodology of the Center for Responsive Politics for calculating the net worth of Congress members, which involves getting the average of the maximum and minimum estimated value of assets and liabilities.

Pelosi's most recent financial disclosure pegged her maximum net wealth at $252 million and the minimum at $40 million.

As House speaker, Pelosi receives an annual salary of $223,500. But her financial disclosures showed that she has millions of dollars tied up in real estate investments, business partnerships and stock holdings, USA Today reported.

Her husband Paul Pelosi, to whom she has been married since 1963, is a businessman who runs the venture capital, financial consulting and real estate firm Financial Leasing Services.

He has shares in companies such as Apple, Facebook, Walt Disney, Comcast, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon and the real estate group Russell Ranch. In June 2021, he purchased around $4.8 million worth of shares in Alphabet, the company that owns Google, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Paul also invested in the United States Football League's Oakland Invaders and purchased the United Football League's California Redwoods for $12 million.

The couple also has a Napa, California, home and vineyard worth between $5 million and $25 million that generated between $100,001 and $1 million in income from grape sales, her 2019 report showed.

In addition to this, they own a few office buildings in San Francisco and commercial properties around California.

The House speaker was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1940. Having a politician father and brother, and a mother who was active in the Democratic Party, organizing Democrat women, Pelosi became involved with politics at an early age.

She began her political career by first interning for Maryland Senator Daniel Brewster in the 1960s.

In 1976, she was elected as a Democratic National Committee member from California, holding the position until 1996. She also served in various other capacities within the Democratic Party during the late 1970s and 1980s.

Pelosi was first elected to Congress in a 1987 special election.

For over 30 years, she has represented San Francisco, California’s 12th District in Congress.

In 2007, she made history as the first woman elected to serve as speaker of the House. She served until 2011, and in 2019, she regained her position.

Her 82-year-old husband made headlines over the weekend after Paul was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in California.

Paul was taken into custody after his Porsche was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Napa County Saturday night, the BBC reported. No one was injured, and the other driver, who was not named, was not arrested.

Paul was charged with two misdemeanors and had his bail set at $5,000. He was not listed as being in custody as of Sunday.
