Queen Elizabeth II looked sullen during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding according to some netizens.

In May 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex exchanged wedding vows. It was a happy celebration, but some claimed that the Queen looked “sullen” during such a joyous event. The netizens shared their thoughts on Quora on why the Queen looked sulky at the wedding. The majority believed that it was due to her physical condition.

“My Grandmother was around the same age as the Queen is now when she passed away. I will quote my grandmother, because she probably has the best answer. ‘Because getting old sucks and it hurts,’” Christy Berlemann commented.

Sallie Smythe, a royalist and monarchist, said that shortly after Prince Harry and Markle ’s royal wedding, Her Majesty underwent a procedure to remove a cataract. The Queen was treated as a day patient and was not admitted to the hospital.

If she looked somber at Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding day it could be due to some “physical discomfort.” Also, she might be experiencing loss of sight pre-surgery.

Meanwhile, Anne Agard felt that the Queen’s facial expression could be due to a bad arthritis considering her age and had nothing to do with the wedding itself.

“I suffer a good deal with osteoarthritis although I am nowhere near 92, I recognize the grim, distracted look that says, ‘just get me through this so I can take another pill and go lie down someplace,’” Agard wrote.

Meanwhile, some were not convinced that the Queen looked sullen. One royal fan said that for her, the monarch appeared quite good and relaxed. Another said that maybe she looked “solemn” not “sullen” before adding that the Queen “often has a bit of a face on her.”

In related news, Queen Elizabeth II is in Balmoral for her summer break. Prince William and Kate Middleton joined her last week and they had lunch together. They were also spotted sharing the same vehicle as they made their way to attend the Sunday church service, as well.

Prince Harry and Markle didn’t join them as the former still had scheduled engagements. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be joining the Queen in Scotland until next month.
