Vice President Joe Biden has some advice for President-elect Donald Trump: Grow up.

Biden, in an interview on the PBS NewsHour aired Thursday, took a sour view of Trump’s use of Twitter.

"Grow up, Donald. Grow up. Time to be an adult," he said. "You're president. You've got to do something. Show us what you have. You're going to propose legislation. We're going to get to debate it. Let the public decide. Let them vote in Congress. Let's see what happens."

Referring to Trump's shifting positions on issues, he added: "It's going to be much clearer what he's for and against, and what we're for and against, now that it's going to get down to actually discussing in detail these issues that affect people's lives."

Biden’s remarks were denounced by Trump transition team member Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., on CNN, who called them “pathetic.”

"I think it's beneath the Office of the Vice President. It shows just the angst of the loss of this election by [President Barack] Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Donald Trump is the adult in the room," Collins said.

Biden was responding specifically to a question about two of Trump’s more recent tweets, calling Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer “the lead clown” and calling some of President Barack Obama’s statements “inflammatory.”

In an interview before the November election, Biden said Trump isn’t “a bad man, but his ignorance is so profound, so profound.”

Trump has used Twitter to not only connect with his more than 18 million followers and bypass the media, but to heap ridicule and insults on people who have delivered perceived slights. Last month he attacked the head of the labor union at Carrier for pointing out Trump didn’t convince the manufacturer to save nearly as many jobs as he claimed.

His Twitter wars with Rosie O’Donnell are epic. After the first Republican primary debate, he attacked Megyn Kelly for questioning his attitude toward women.
